A NOTE FROM KAYTE;
There’s never been a short and easy answer to the question: How did you get into makeup? It didn’t quite start as a child.. as I was very, VERY much a tom-boy growing up. Although, when I did become passionate about makeup and beauty alike, it hit like a train and I dove right in. It was quite a transition.

My biggest influences have to be all the women in my life: My mother, Aunt Andrea, Aunt Doris, and Roxy! I am the product of an amazing line of female entrepreneurs. One in specific, my namesake, owns and operates her own salon. Let’s all give a big “Thank you!” to my Aunt Andrea, I’ll put the blame on her for the start of all of this! I’ll only include a small, heartfelt segment here - I owe most, if not all of my success, to that woman. Thank you for always being my biggest fan.

I shared my high school years with a Vo-Tech school to obtain both my diploma and my cosmetology license at the same time. From there, my career began! I worked for 2-3 salons as a teenager/young adult, but that just wasn’t quite right for me. I was hired by Sephora in 2015, and shortly after, Makeup by Roxy and BOOM! A recipe for success. Sephora hired me as a Color Artist, and further promoted me to a Class Facilitator. Roxy hired me as the first Hair Stylist, with flexibility in makeup, and further promoted me to Senior Makeup Artist and Studio Manager. Between those two jobs, I’ve had the chance to work closely with a bunch of incredibly wonderful and prestigious brands/companies: Amika, YSL, Stila, PBS, CNN, to name a few. Makeup by Roxy has stolen my heart, and my entire schedule as I signed on full time in 2018! A huge shout out to Sephora for giving me so many tools to begin this journey and pushing me to constantly try new things (like public speaking, who ACTUALLY likes it?). Being a full-time Senior Artist & Studio manager for Makeup By Roxy is the dream.

I couldn’t be more grateful to have the kind of opportunity that I do with this team. Being in the wedding industry, constantly meeting new people, traveling across the country/world, hearing so many love stories.. It’s very rewarding. I can so confidently say that I’m in love with my job and what I do! I’ve been able to dip my hands in so many forms of artistry from makeup, to hair, eyelash extensions, spray tanning, and more. From here, I intend on pursuing so many additional avenues. My goal is simple.. to have no ceiling.
